Kame

Kame is the Mayan nahuale of Death and Rebirth. It is the sign of transformation.

Kame is a great day to communicate with our ancestors and with unseen worlds. It is a day full of potent alchemy of the soul. In Mayan beliefs, Death is seen as a positive, beautiful thing, it is the portal that brings us to the higher world and allows us to access our higher selves. “Birth is the gateway into the mortal life, death the gateway into the eternal.*”

This Nahuale invites us to face our fears and provides us with the strength to overcome those fears for our spiritual transformation. It is a day of divination and psychic connection.

Kame is the sign of the Hero Twins in the Popul Vu, the sacred Mayan book, who constantly outwitted Death and continuously came back to life, conquering Death and rising above fear of him. Today is about the paradise side of the Underworld: attaining Heaven on Earth.

In Mayan, “now” means “death.” It is the Eternal Now. Kame is also the Mayan word for “present tense.”

Kame is here to remind us: Death is not an ending, but a beginning.

:: I invite in the transformation and rebirth my path needs with courage and trust. I welcome the unknown, for that is where the truth lies. It is only when I shed my old, outgrown self that will I ascend up to the cosmos and learn the wisdom of the stars. ::
